My Name is Shannon Enoch.
I want to welcome you to our wonderful school. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with a highly qualified and dedicated staff, wonderful students, and supportive parents. Our staff is committed to working with students and their families as a team.
My greatest initiative is to provide leadership that will facilitate a school environment that provides differentiated instruction to meet the needs of each child to the best of our ability.
Our academic program will be academically challenging, engage each student by linking the curriculum to previous knowledge and experiences, and exciting enough to promote further exploration of new ideas.
We all have an important role in encouraging our children to become active 21st century learners. It is my sincere desire to provide expanded opportunities for our students to acquire skills to become productive citizens in a vastly changing global society.
In an effort to implement Common Core Standards, we will continue working to improve instruction in literacy and math. We will explore the use of more complex text for students, especially providing students with more exposure to informational text. In math we will work to improve our skills by making students aware of the practices used by mathematicians to solve problems.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach me at the school. 614-564-9548.
Community schools offer an alternative to the local public school. They are free and open to all students and focused on meeting student needs for success. Community schools are among the top-performing schools in the nation.
Very few other school programs focus on student success as does Berwyn East Academy, where that goal is to advance our students beyond expected grade level. The guiding principle at BEA is that every child can learn, and if that does not occur, it is the fault of the school program, never the child. So at BEA, we do not use any of the common excuses that say that the child’s shortcomings are the reason for lack of success. This is the primary way in which BEA is different than most school programs.
We are confident that we can teach every child, because we have done this in the past with the programs and our methods we will use at BEA. The programs for reading, math, language, spelling and writing are designed to address the needs of students who need extra time to master concepts or to allow more gifted students to move ahead quickly. We constantly measure the progress of every student, and we give extra attention to those students whose performance indicates a need. This attention to detail allows us to be successful with virtually every student. Our programs are designed to have every child MASTER every concept. Children who learn to mastery, learn faster, retain longer and generally become smarter as a result. Consequently, we are able to advance most students beyond grade level in reading and math.
Our school is part of ACCEL Schools, an established network of more than 40 charter and community schools located throughout the U.S. We serve more than 11,500 students nationwide.
